What's the end goal? Do you want to do 3d CAD for making stuff on a 3d
printer, or do 3d modeling for artistic / movie-making purposes?

I have a bit of experience in Blender and OpenSCAD for the former (and
would be very happy to teach), and none at all for the latter (:
