If you need multipage and/or CMYK printing support, you should use Scribus.
Otherwise, Inkscape is pretty straightforward to use.

btw, I am surely biased since I am an Inkscape developer. But you all
probably agree that free software - just like any other tech that allows us
to freely tinker with - should be heavily prioritized in a hackerspace.
