If you're not concerned about your cupcake smelling funny or maybe being
toxic, you could use one or two of these:

I remember them producing enough heat to burn my hands and staying hot
for at least 4->6 hours.
I can't remember if they work well when turned upside-down or sideways
or if fuel leakage would be an issue.
