[Noisebridge-discuss] Any Sci-Fi Fans Out There?

I'm looking for science-fiction (or fantasy) fans who might be interested
in volunteering at a science-fiction convention. (Imagine a mashup of
a book festival and a geekfest. That gives you a picture of the kind of
event I'm talking about, one with authors and scientists, not media stars.)

BayCon can use a few people who can help make decorations to fit
various themes, a few people to help at the registration desk, and
perhaps one or two to help with loading and unloading a truckload
of supplies

BayCon takes place over four days on the last weekend in May (the
Memorial Day weekend), from Friday, May 27nd through Monday,
May 30th, in Santa Clara. A four-day membership is currently $70
online, and will be $80 at the door. Regrettably, a staff membership
is not free, but costs $20. OTOH, in exchange the convention will
cover one-fourth of the cost of a room, so if you share a room with
three other staffers, the room will be paid for. This makes working
BayCon the best deal for a starving hacker who wants to attend.

If you want to give a talk at BayCon (for example, on Spacebridge)
but don't feel like being on multiple panels throughout the con, then
being a staffer is the easiest way get your talk accepted.

Anyone interested should email me off-list (to save traffic on the list).

Added bonus: There's a Fan Table area where dot-orgs can get
table space to promote their group. The table is free, but does not
include any memberships to BayCon.

Second added bonus: It's likely you'll also find some hot chocolate
being served at BayCon, based on the recipe I developed in the
Noisebridge kitchen. (My thanks to all of the NB taste testers!)
