I know you were originally requesting a plug source only but if you
are open to buying a new surge protector instead of the hack, then I
would echo the Tymm's recommendation for the Belkin ones with the
round flat plugs.

In addition to being flat, they rotate so you can run the cable neatly
in whatever direction you need it.  Belkin has a range of different
style of surge protectors with different features like extended cords
and telephone/cable surge protection if you require.  Not all Belkin
models have the flat plug, as some just have plain ole standard bulky
ones, so double check that before buying.

link's style, which also have the rotating plug, but I can't confirm
