I've been thinking it would be worth upgrading the machine in the space
we use to run Pony. Right now it's a crappy dual core AMD machine that's
about 3 years old. I would like to be able to have more ram for running
virtual machines for various local services.

Here's a shopping list I put together:

Supermicro X8SIL-F Server motherboard - $190

Intel Xeon X3440 2.53GHz - $238
* http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117225

16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Registered - $230
* http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161460

1U CPU cooler - $25
* http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200064

Total: $683+tax-n-shipping
