In principle I agree with you. But I'd point out that Ronald is
correct, in that the subscriber list is admin access only @

So currently, if you want to know who's lurking, you have to break
that level of security. It's not a huge bar technically (I'm sure a
lot of people here could gain access), but it's enough to keep out
casual or warrantless government searches… oh wait. :-/
