[Noisebridge-discuss] gate lock broken

An operating life of years assumes a typical apartment building. I think
it's safe to say that Noisebridge brings a lot of in/out traffic through
the gate, probably more than the components were designed to handle.
There's a good reason why high-traffic doorways use different mechanisms
(e.g. electromagnetic door locks).
