I presume this was the anecdote about the hot tub in the backyard in
Oakland (a la http://www.calebclark.org/?p=870)

I *really* like that as a way of keeping the core community together,
while being able to periodically trim the edges when need be. I still
think we should strive to be as open and as welcoming to outsiders as
possible, I just don't want to leave the door hanging wide open for
anyone to walk through.
Having an authentication system that's easy to hand out keys from is a
good compromise between those two, I think. It's a lot cheaper (and
more fun, IMO) than replacing or re-pinning locks.

I'm totally down to help in building something like this. I've been
much less active in Noisebridge as of late, as I haven't been running
into hackers that I enjoy working with or spending time with, as say
compared to the situation at 83c or early 2169.
