Corey, all you did was choose to say something vs/ not.  You were
polite, showed them around, etc.   You didn't do anything _wrong_ per
se, rather, you took a less conservative action than the one outlined.

Suggestions and guidelines like the ones I've given are there to make
you think, before you break them.   It's important to know the
potential consequences, and in this case, what your rights are.   It's
worthwhile to repost them from time to time to make sure everyone is
aware what their options are.

Most officers you meet, from any agency, really do you have your best
interests in mind when they approach you.  Seldom are you, or someone
near you, going to be a 'person of interest.'   Knowing your rights,
and having an outline of what to do, though .. can be the difference
between a good or bad outcome from an encounter.
