anyone else heard of Ronja?
It's such an interesting project. http://ronja.twibright.com/
Anyone want to help me get some links from Jiri so we can test it in the
Bay Area? Maybe we could get to TI if we somehow got to put one on a
hillside somewhere...
As for ordering the boards, I'm into reuise and getting a system up and
running rather than building it bespoke.

Hi,
I have some unfinished Ronjas for sale.
Back in 2005/2006, we decided to build 4 Ronja links.
We bought most of the material and started manufacturing 8 units (4
links) in parallel. In 2006 we only finished 2 of the 8 units and
put the link in service:

The remaining unfinished 6 units (3 links) have been collecting
dust since then. If there is anyone interested in finishing
them, I am offerring them at a fair price.
Have a look at the above links to see more details. The electronics is
standard
PCB twister and airwire RX/TX. The RX/TX are differently laid out
in the tin box to fit our mechanics. All finished and tested to
work 6 years ago.
(one of the twisters has one of the ICs badly soldered - it still
works, but it should be fixed; The voltage regulators that is
external to the PCB still needs to have connectors and
capacitors soldered on, I am not 100% sure tha I will find all of
them; no box for twister).
The mechanics is a very sturdy construction made of thick metal
pipes. They have the quoins welded on them (in an amateur way
;-)), professionally lathed front to insert & glue in the lens
(I have the lens, they need to be glued in).
The threaded rods to hold the electronics are welded in place,
the screws to hold the back cover are also welded in place, the
back covers are done. You need to find some rubber sealing to go under
the back cover. Also finished are the holders (L-shaped metal bar
that you screw both heads on). You need to make some kind of
console to attach this holder to. No hoods (easy to weld any kind
of tin on the thick pipes). No painting.
Pricing:
- populated twister (no regulator, no box): $10 (the one with badly
soldered IC: $5)
- finished rx + tx set: $10
- unfinished mechanics (2 heads, 2 lens, back covers, holder): $10
- whole set (all thre items above): $25 (bargain! :-))
All is available for collection in Prague, Czech Republic.
I can mail the electronic parts. I dont think it's econimical to
mail the mechanics - it's HEAVY.
The one link that we finished back in 2006 kept working for 6
years with only a few re-alingnments.
Feel free to contact me if you want more details, or if you'd
like to drop by and have a look / test something.
