My understanding is that mice can easily navigate their way back to any
home within a couple miles of their current location so expect it to
immediately return.  For killing flies, you want both vinegar and over-ripe
fruit.  The fruit is the main thing that attracts the flies so it is still
worth grabbing a rotten piece from the market downstairs.  Good luck!
