I've noticed a disturbing trend wherein members of the community,
which is normally quite careful with in its choice of allusions, are
glossing over (indeed denigrating!), the actual properties of a widely
used and possibly beneficial technology; because this imprecise
language is widely accepted in the common parlance. Of course, I'm
referring to our much maligned friend the "douche".
I wasn't quite sure what one was, so I turned to the internets for
guidance (hey, it's never steered me wrong before!).
It turns out a "douche" is a "device used to introduce a stream of
water into the body for medical or hygienic [or recreational],
reasons, or the stream of water itself." (citation flippantly
omitted)
It would seem to me that given this definition, what Rubin has done
is indeed a sort of "mental douchery" wherein he's directed a stream
of information into our "body of awareness", to help irrigate our
misconceptions.
_However_ I think it's also clear that the term "douchebag" is
wholly inappropriate in this context! I think it's clear that Rubin
is not simply a repository of expulsion stimulating exposition, no
indeed! Clearly Rubin has _directed_ the stream of clarifying ideas
into our collective awareness. Therefore, he undoubtedly should be
referred to with the respect appropriate for one willing to make such
a thoughtful contribution, as a _douchenozzle_.
Thanks Rubin, you're a real douchenozzle.
