My manufacturer where I make TV-B-Gone remotes is making this USB power supply for a hardware geek in the SF area.  It derives power from your laptop, and with a pot you can adjust the voltage to anything between 0.0v and 5.0v.  Looks like a cool power supply.  And it's open source.
