YOU PEOPLE may not know this, but Noisebridge's original set of rules was as
follows:

 1. Be excellent to each other.

That's what Jim was referring to.  You might be able to argue that taking
photographs of people against their will is legal, or perhaps even morally
justifiable under some circumstances, but it is hard to argue that it
constitutes being excellent to them, except under unusual circumstances.
Therefore it is against the rules.

Your email also does not rise to the standard of being excellent to other
people.
