I think in some arbitration situations they do something like each party gets to pick one, and one is randomly chosen or something.

Perhaps he can nominate somebody to work with whomever the community has chosen?

If his problem is that the mediators on offer are biased against him, then presumably his pick of mediator would not share this bias and could bring any problems up with the community?
