Hi Noisebridge,

Summary:
+ what: Volunteers wanted for maker-y workshop event
+ where: Downtown Oakland
+ when: Nov. 10-11
+ why: Help out a fun community event, get free workshops and dinner, and
meet other awesome people!

I'm helping to run Workshop Weekend, an event in Oakland that gives people
of all ages an intensive hands-on experience in maker and other topics. Our
next event is scheduled for Nov. 10-11, and will feature workshops on
soldering, Arduino, electronics, programming, HTML, EL wire, and also
crafts, food (cake decorating! coffee roasting!), arts, and more. Attendees
pay $40 admission and take as many workshops as they like over the weekend,
paying additionally only materials fees for those workshops that have them.
More information at http://workshopweekend.net - or see the blurb below
this email.

We're looking for volunteers to help us with setup, checking people in,
being an extra pair of hands for some workshops (soldering and arduino in
particular, but also others), helping direct folks between venues, and
being on hand for when stuff goes wrong (eek! out of chairs! missing vga
cables!, etc.)

As a way of saying thank you, all volunteers receive free admission and are
invited to the teacher/volunteer dinner before the event.

If you're interested, let me know, or email
volunteer at workshopweekend.net-- I hope I'll meet some of you there!

Best,
J.D.

=== More about Workshop Weekend ===

Workshop Weekend returns to downtown Oakland November 10-11, 2012.
Admission is $40 and includes as many 1-3 hour hands-on workshops as you
can handle. Choose from nearly 40 offerings across four categories:

(1) MAKER: Arduino, soldering, 3D printing, programming, and more;
(2) CRAFTS: crocheting, sewing, soap-making, and more;
(3) FOOD: cheese-making, liquid nitrogen ice cream, cake decorating,
coffee-roasting, and more;
(4) ARTS: stop-motion film, tie-dye, singing, and more!

New this November, MIGHTYminnow, MOCO, and Sudo Room are joining Tech
Liminal as host venues. We couldn't be more excited to welcome them into
the family!

Workshop Weekend was started in 2011 by brothers J.D. & Gil Zamfirescu to
help anyone and everyone connect with his or her inner maker, crafter, and
artist. Hundreds have attended hands-on workshops and felt first-hand the
joy of creating from start to finish, building both skills and
self-confidence.
