It's weird that nobody has suggested taking the phone to the police.
Theft and petty crime is what they know. If somebody shot your friend's
dog and left the smoking gun behind, would you be asking this list for
help looking up the serial number??
Anyhow, I don't know about the LG specifically. A lot of devices can be
rooted with this app called "SuperOneClick!". And look into
https://github.com/kosborn/p2p-adb if usb debugging turned on.
Non-rooted phones are somewhat harder to break into.
