NTSC/PAL doesn't actually say anything about resolution, though -- but 1080
does. one can't advertise a resolution their equipment cannot record.
NTSC/PAL are broadcast systems with hard limits on available framerates but
not on resolution (interlaced signals show half of each image at a time,
anyway) -- these are limits dependant on a region's AC frequency, not going
away anytime soon. cars are DC, but when you're dealing with HDMI you're
still going into broadcast standards territory.
