Jake, I edited the bug page, but wasn't sure if you got the update so
please excuse my redundance. As you know, the electrical actuator was
breaking off the gate jamb plate due to the gate latch not retracting when
contacting the actuator.

Four factors appeared to contribute:
1) gate latch was broken
2) electrical actuator was poorly fastened to gate jamb plate
3) gate was swinging closed w/o sufficient dampening &
4) too much play between gate latch and actuator (gate latch jiggles in
jamb recess when closed & locked).

Three remedies have been applied:
1) gate latch was purchased by Robert from Menlo Park (not RAC or me)
2) electrical actuator is now bolted to the jamb plate
3) gate dampener was adjusted

The gate still has too much play when closed, but no feasible remedy
presented itself and the vulnerability was accepted for now. cheers
