Are you eager to perform in the first-ever Noisejam (on sunday January 20), but you don't got no instrument?

Remember, all players in the jam are required to build your own instrument.

This weekend (1/12 & 1/13) there will be two instrument making workshops at Noisebridge to prep for Noisejam:

-Non-electronic instruments: Jim Wells
-Circuit-bending: Martin

....
NON-ELECTRONIC

Jim Wells is conducting a 2-day non-electronic music instrument-making workshop at Noisebridge this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Schedule:

-Saturday morning until 1145 am
-Sunday most of the day.
Watch this list for precise times.

Requirements:
-bring raw materials that you want to turn into an instrument.
-create or find instrument making-plans. Search the web, get a book, peruse magazines, etc.Tthere's no shortage of instrument-making guides out there. I saw a magazine at Noisebridge with instrument plans.

Material Suggestions:
(not a complete list)

For plucked-string instruments:
-string, wire, or real guitar or violin strings.
-steel straps.
-a resonant wood box or wood or other material for making a box.

Drums:
-any skin or skin-like or rubber sheet that can be stretched over a frame or hoop.
-a frame or hoop or bucket.

Jim sez, Be primed to go to a store or dumpster to get things that you didn't bring, or that are not at hand at Noisebridge.

If you know how to make any kind of instrument, please come help.

....
CIRCUIT-BENDING:

Martin will guide you through transforming an innocent toy into a sonic monstrosity. Schedule:

Saturday and Sunday.
Watch this list for times.

Participants are required to bring any electronic toy that you want to bend. The toy does not have to be totally functional, but should at least be capable of making some noises already.

If you know how to circuit-bend, please come help.
