If you're interested in these sorts of ideas, there's meetups for
Tahoe-LAFS at Noisebridge pretty much every Thursday night at 7PM. Tahoe is
a peer-to-peer distributed encrypted storage system which allows the safe
sharing and distribution of files. Unlike systems like Retroshare files
live on a redundant "grid" where node failures are easily tolerated and the
data remains available. It's pretty neat, and unlike, say, MEGA, it's
written by expert cryptographers.
