What would be really useful is a spectrum analyzer that can show you
the envelope of your signal over a frequency domain, rather than
voltage/time.

You might also check out the cq@ Noisebridge mailing list, on which
there are many ham radio enthusiasts who might not watch
noisebridge-discuss@ as much.
