Hey folks, long time lurker who hasn't been to the space in many months!
Thought some of you would be interested in coming to see Birgitta
Jonsdottir speak on Tuesday. She is amazing! If you don't know about her
Wikileaks involvement or her case with Twitter (being represented by EFF),
you should look her up. Also, she is a member of Parliament as part of the
Pirate Party!

Nadia

Dear Nadia,

Join us next Tuesday, June 11 for a panel and forum *featuring Icelandic
Member of Parliament Birgitta Jonsdottir*, *whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg*,
and *BORDC NLG Legal Fellow Nadia Kayyali*. The accomplished and energetic
panel of speakers will outline the threats posed by the NDAA (National
Defense Authorization Act) and as well as actions underway to challenge it.

Come join the discussion about what we can do to turn the erosion of these
liberties around. This interactive and co-creative discussion will
highlight direct actions that each of us can engage to effect change
wherever we are.

WHAT:* "Our Vanishing Civil Liberties," Panel and Forum *
WHEN: *Tuesday, June 11, 7:30PM*
WHERE: *2727 College Avenue, Berkeley, CA*

The panelists will address the paramount civil liberty issues of our time,
including the chilling effect of the military detention provisions of the
NDAA, signed into law by Obama in January 2012. Panelists will also reflect
on the increasing government surveillance of its citizens, including
whistleblowers, journalists and activists. This profound ongoing shift
toward governmental overreach affects not just whistleblowers and
journalists: it affects us all.
