As the LPFM application window approaches the Prometheus Radio Project
is trying to raise $20,000 to help a handful of groups get their
applications into the FCC and their stations onto the air.
Therefore they have put together an Indiegogo crowdfunding page with a
goal of $20,000. As of 9/19/2013 the effort was a little short, with an
Oct. 9 deadline looming.
Prometheus says that $20K can: support an engineering and technical
team, composed of several part-time and full-time staffers; create and
hold at least 10 online training sessions on best practices for station
management, community engagement, programming creation, FCC compliance
and more; coordinate regional training for several stations that include
hands-on workshops; support dedicated staff time to coordinate
individually with fledgling stations to create a timeline for building
their station.
