[Noisebridge-discuss] Free USB3.0 (USB2.0 Backwards compatible!) <-> SATA Enclosures

Hi guys,

It's come to my attention that work (the fabulous Internet Archive, near
the corner of Park Presidio and Geary Blvd in the inner Richmond district)
has a bunch (75-100+) of new-in-box USB3 enclosures+interfaces that will be
going to the ecycler on Tuesday due to space constraints.

These are former Seagate Freeagent GoFlex enclosures that had drives in
them, which we've stripped out. (Long story, but basically, during the
Thailand crisis, it was cheaper to get external drives and strip them than
to try and get internal drives in quantity)

You get the power supply, computer interface, USB3 cables, and the
enclosure casing (though the interfaces work excellently without requiring
you to put the drive in the plastic casing). Everything is unused and brand
new, aside from popping open the enclosure to pull out the drive.

If you have any interest in some (1? 5? 10? 20?) of these, please, please,
please hit me up; I'll be around all weekend. I really don't want to see
these just go to the 'cycler.

If you have any friends or organizations who might be interested, please
feel free to pass this email along where ever.

Alex

PS: Even if you don't have a use for the SATA controller, each box has a
nice 1.5A 12V power supply that could be hacked for other applications.

PPS: The controller in these enclosures supports >2TB drives on Linux. I've
not tried it in Windows, but I'd bet it'd work.
