What part of Hacker radio interests you most?

What radio (or video) content could you create about one of _your_

Corduroy: You might want to put a "page watch email notice" setting on

that page for yourself.

Then you'll get an email when the page gets updated.

There were some really cool people there last saturday until douglass and rayc made some of them leave. It was incredibly disappointing to make such good friends with people so quickly and have them treated so disrespectfully, making them leave because "they were abusing the space". Oh, and where do rayc and douglass spend most their nights? Hmm...

Subject: [Noisebridge-discuss] Soylent Workshop!

Hello Hackers!

My name is Gavin, and currently, I'm a traveling hacker. I stopped by for the first time on Saturday, and shortly before leaving, I noticed "soylent.me" exclaimed on the whiteboard. This made me realize that a bunch of you are probably interested that I have made, and modified soylent, and especially that I have it as my emergency hacker food while traveling. For convenience, my hacker team and I, back in my hometown have developed a solid cracker-like form of soylent that is baked in the oven. I figure that since I have supplies to make a week worth of soylent with me, a soylent workshop is in order! Here we can make a batch or two of liquid soylent, and a batch or two of solid soylent together, and everyone can try it out to see what they think! I'm thinking Tuesday at 6pm, how does this sound to those who are interested?

Happy Hacking,
Gavin

I think this is a good idea -- I'd check with the wiki to see if
anyone is using the kitchen then. Bring some to the meeting at 8PM!

No problem. I really want to help get this station on the air. It's my understanding that we need a fm signal map of mission valley. Norman explainedthat in order to figure out which frequency isn't used we'll have to go the old fashioned way and and walk around with an FM radio logging the channels withwhite noise at each intersection. This will provide us the data we need to selectan unused band. I am willing to spend a day doing this sometime soon. The bike I have would make this fairly easy but tedious. I'll post results soon.

There's no need to war-walk the neighborhood, when you can warbike or wardrive it.
There's plenty of software out there to allow someone to drive the SF grid, and record the various "open" frequencies.

# Looking at their site says enough.

# A fairly poor MRP and MetRX knock-off, overhyped by its self-congratulatory producers who claim to solve all sorts of health and environmental problems.

And isn't it always the novel creations, be they of businesses or governments, which depend entirely upon problems needing to be solved? Such as the perception of needing of solylent, which itself needs corn for its starch, and the corn causing concomitant needing of programs to mitigate the harm caused by corn production, including but not limited to bee colony collapsed disorder, soil degradation, consuptive effects as diabetes and CHU.

They're hacks, for sure. Their site claims that maltrodextrin provides a "kick". About the only kick that would give is of serotonin, which induces sleep. So that's what you're dealing with there. Speaks for itself.

When, if ever, will this species come round to the credo of "first, do no harm" or its variant "don't do that then"?

Sorry if I misunderstood anything, but the people who left last night after you spoke to them had invited me to help make the website for free burn and i have not been able to find them since they left last night after you asked them to. I wouldn't be tripping at all if you could help lead me to these people i intend to colloborate creatively with, but i haven't seen them since they left after what happened.

Another less labor-intensive starting point could be to hit up the FCC
licensing system and do a geographic search for noisebridge and a
desired frequency or range.

Ahh. We have a working DJ on this NB list. :)

Danny - What got you interested in NB?
What kinds of hacking interests do you have?

What suggestions do you have, as a working DJ, about a radio station by
hackers, for either hackers or potential hackers?

What kinds of issues should we be aware of as we:
1) Prepare an application to the FCC?
2) Plan how to get the station started & running?

What suggestions do you have for us about creating original content,
be it a daily hacker news show, something educational for kids, or live
or recorded music & art, etc... ?

Norman has been doing great work on this! :)

Here are some important resources for radio station info in SF:

All broadcast band radio station signals in SF:
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/locate?select=city&city=san+francisco&state=ca&x=19&y=6

Vacant channels & signal strength graph:
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/vacant?select=city&city=San%20Francisco&state=CA

Those resoursces give a quick view of what frequencies might be
available.

Martin - after you've taken a look at those web pages, will you please
put those urls somwhere on the NB Radio wiki page?

Thanks! :)
