the problem is: the floppy uses the same flat cable of newer PCs, but
the pin out is different; the drive is powered by the flat on the PS/2.

the internal hard-drive is fully functional (it is a museum piece!). I
would recommend dd'ing a bootable disk image. here is a fun one to try:
