Dear Noisebridgers,

There is an exciting project happening in Oakland, California to open an
historic 22,000 square foot building as a radical commons for Oakland. Some
of you have already visited Sudo Room's new home, but for those who
haven't, you can take a video tour of the building, learn about some of the
people and projects involved, and donate on our IndieGogo page
<https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/open-the-omni-commons-for-all-of-oakland>.
*Your donations are doubled up to $10,000 until December 23rd! *If you
can't donate, you can also support our campaign by signing up with our
Thunderclap
<https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/20506-crowdfund-a-commons-in-oakland>
to broadcast and amplify a message promoting our campaign on December 30th.

The Omni Oakland Commons has already become a community epicenter of
learning, creating, organizing, and celebrating. Volunteers have invested
hundreds of thousands of hours so far. We are all types - artists and
hackers, poets and revolutionaries, intellectuals and musicians, activists
and community organizers - committed to the radical commoning of space and
resources.

Most recently, we hosted the Catalyst Project's workshop, 'Black Liberation
and White Anti-Racism in the Time of Ferguson,' to a standing-room only
crowd. On any given day, you can attend free classes and workshops through
the Public School; volunteer with Food Not Bombs in our commercial
kitchen; learn
robotics, digital security, and programming in Sudo Room; work on biology
and other science projects in Counter Culture Labs; participate in a free
yoga class in our upstairs somatic/movement space; utilize the resources of
our community print shop; or attend any of hundreds of assemblies, panels,
and performance events we host in our large ballroom and theater.

Occupy Oakland recognized the need for public common space collectively
stewarded for the benefit of the community. The Omni is one of the
manifestations of this dream now emerging. In order to reach our ultimate
goal of buying the Omni building as a community land trust, we have to take
this first step of raising enough money to make the building accessible,
bring it up to fire codes, equip it with a legal commercial kitchen, and
implement other upgrades needed to officially open to the public.

Love and solidarity, toward building a better world,
Jenny
