I'd be happy to provide a tutorial on the use of darkice and icecast.
Ronald, want to help?  Your massive amounts of bandwidth would be
quite welcome to the party.  :)

With servers set up, all that remains is deciding on the
microphone-bearing device.  It would be sweet if we could come up with
something "permanent" that we didn't have to move around or have to
remember to bring to meetings.

The cool thing about icecast is that you can define a mesh-like
network of icecast servers that allow semi-intelligent routing and
load-balancing.

I use qualifiers like "semi-" with icecast because the smarts have to
be programmed by a human, it's not like ElasticSearch where it
automatically figures out its own load and distance from the client.
