Wow this is so dramatic. I feel there is a natural change from the initial optimism at the start of a hackerspace. Infighting and issues and lack of enthusiasm in membership naturally follows 

Re: the economy - it's been booming around noisebridge in SF.  Most members are working in tech so since the crash we have been doing pretty well financially ., maybe more money less passion and more problems ?
