[Noisebridge-discuss] Noisebridge, and a possible future 1-2 years out

Hello Noisebridge,

Much love from Oakland, where I am currently hanging out with the fine
folks from the Sudoroom Collective.

I've mentioned before how I think it would be neat to have noisebridge at
50,000 people, complete with people powered consensus. I've also mentioned
the possibilities of leveraging land trusts in the bay area to make buying
out whole buildings a possibility.

Right now, sudoroom hackerspace and their sister space Bay Area Public
School are planning a move into the Omni -- a 3 story building in the
Temescal district of Oakland. They are planning a massive move in with a
bunch of open community collectives including a hacker spa/massage
collective, an anarchist coffee / bookstore worker owned collective, food
not bombs using the industrial sized kitchen downstairs, a feminist dancer
collective, a biohacking space called Counter Culture Labs, and a bunch
more projects -- all largely collectively driven. You can find out more on
their wiki at http://wiki.omni-oakland.org - the goal is to eventually buy
the building and put it into a community land trust.

Why don't we have this in San Francisco? I'm putting this meme out there
-- we have enough energy and projects in our collective visions where we
could really make something world changing. Imagine a giant hackerspace
combined with kitchen incubators and sensory deprivation tanks. We could
design around the current kitchen conflicts from the ground up and we could
be an instigator for lulz and counter culture on a mass scale in San
Francisco. I suggest that we think about the Transamerica pyramid as a
possible base of operations. We can take over the pyramid and project our
mind control rays throughout the bay area from the top.

Planting the seeds!!!!

Love,
Praveen
