Hi,
Anyone around late afternoon or later
who can help me with lighting for my
bicycle? I would like to attach a headlight to my bicycle or helmet.
Maybe there are some parts around NB?

the 3d printer use, Thermalplastic or Thermalset? For this application
I need to use Thermalset. (Although a member of my family already
managed to destroy the prior thermalset handle.)

Probably laser cutting is better. I know nothing about laser cutting.
The item is the handle to an old style expresso coffee pot, the kind
that you put on the stove top. That is why it has to be a heat
resistant material.

Is it worthwhile to 3D print something? Laser cutting is faster :)
The 3D printers use a thermal plastic but low temp thermal plastics that
wont hold up to heat.

All 3d printers that extrude plastic use thermoplastic of various types.
In theory you could melt down all your 3d printed objects and extrude
more filament from them, and use that to print more objects,
indefinitely. Although in practice you'd get crud in the mix and it
would eventually not work any more.
All the thermoset plastics I've worked with are made from two liquid or
semi-liquid parts that are mixed together and then cure permanently,
generating heat during the curing process. A very common example of
this is epoxy glue, which is technically a thermoset plastic. Others
you may be familiar with are the resins used with fiberglass, or the
clear casting resins that some kinds of jewelry are made from.
You could still use 3d printing in the making of your handle. Draw and
3d print a handle to test the fit. Once you have a version you are
satisfied with, make a mold of it and cast a resin version as your final
result.

Or have Shapeways print it in a more durable material than extruded
plastic, like sintered nylon, and send it to you !

Dear projector hungry citizens of Noisebridgdom:
The meeting notes don't do a good job at summarizing the end outcome of
discussion related to this topic. My level of commitment still stands. I
am willing to take lead on making this happen but only in the method of...
1. Me personally buying all of this gear at once
2. Scheduling a whole day with the group to get this shit installed
3. Having it all get installed at once
4. Later asking if the group would like to donate into any sort of
reimbursement fund for the money spent
I do not have the time nor the patience to assist or manage this work in
phases. I also don't want to play the game of too many cooks in the
kitchen managing making this happen. I've got a fairly good plan on how
to install the majority of this A/V gear into the space so that it
doesn't walk off too easily, or cables and adapters going missing
(making the whole setup unusable for a drop in teacher).
It is totally understandable to Noisebridge has an itch to make some of
this stuff happen. So far I am the only person that has a plan put
together to do so, there's even a budget if you hop up a few messages in
this thread. The space has been functioning mostly fine in its janky A/V
state for the last few years. All that I ask is it just wait a little
while longer and I'll be more than happy to execute this plan.
