I should also provide some information to see if I can help the original
person answer their own question. We can devise a simple litmus test for if
noisebridge is a good place for something. The test can't really tell if
noisebridge isn't a good place for something, but we can reasonably infer
the class of activities that noisebridge is best suited for based on the
test.

Is noisebridge a good place to make kites? Yes.
Is noisebridge a good place for people to practice soldering? Yes.
Is noisebridge a good place to perform food pantry duties? (not sure, but
the litmus test isn't a dead yes)
Is noisebridge a good place to start a religious cult? (again, my spidey
sense goes off, we apparently have experience with this one)
Is noisebridge a good place to make wooden signs? Yes.
Is noisebridge a good place for a (insert politician) volunteer meeting?
Hopefully this has been of some assistance.
