(This Techno-Activism Third Monday will, confusingly, be on TUESDAY 21ST
this month. Don't forget to update your calendar! And feel free to
forward this on to anyone you think may be interested.)

Join Pirate Party MEP Julia Reda in a discussion about the EU Copyright
Evaluation Report, and the prospects for better global copyright in the
21st Century.

The European Union has begun the process of evaluating its current
copyright law with a view to updating it. As part of that process, Julia
Reda, the Pirate Party member of the European Parliament, prepared an
extensive report recommending a number of reforms, including liberal
licensing of government works, measures to safeguard the public domain,
a harmonisation of copyright term length across the EU, explicit
allowances for linking, parody, quotation and data-mining, and limits to
legal restrictions on bypassing DRM. This month the Parliament voted to
accept the report, with some amendments.

Julia Reda will be at this month's San Francisco TA3M to talk about her
work as the report's author, and next steps in reforming copyright in
Europe, the United States, and the world.

Date: Tuesday, July 21st
Time: 6:00pm
Location: EFF offices, 815 Eddy Street, San Francisco
