[Noisebridge-discuss] Noisebridge should install a Solar System on the roof

Noisebridge should install grid-tied solar panels on the roof. This would be
an excellent use of available funds and would also be a valuable learning
experience of designing, permitting and installing a grid-tied solar system.

Presently solar power is tied with or cheaper than regular electricity, and
that's including the 66% of the total cost which is installation labor.

Since Noisebridge would be supplying its own installation labor, this means it
would be an even more justifiable expense.

I know a lot of people are concerned that Noisebridge might not remain in the
same building if the lease is not renewed next year, but most likely the
current landlord can be convinced to purchase the existing system, or
Noisebridge can remove the installation and bring the equipment to the next
spot.

I believe that the only reliable way to save the world from climate change is
to definitively show that solar power (and other renewables) are cheaper, and
since labor is 66% of solar installation costs it seems that training ourselves
and others (and making good online documentation) is the most reasonable way to
do that.
