Hi Anders,

  Thanks for the offer!  I will use whatever Mitch doesn't.  These do in fact need a cheap protection board to be used safely.   As Scotty mentioned there is also a batteries bin by the hackershelves area (across from the new room under construction).

I will be at Noisebridge tomorrow night to teach a class from 6pm-10pm.

I have five 18650 cells rated at 2850mAh that work was just throwing away. They are NOT protected against overcurrent/overcharge/shorts/etc. to my knowledge. In order to use these safely you'll need to implement a protection circuit or buy one on eBay:
