[Noisebridge-discuss] Glider Ink - a hackerspace graphic novel

Hey!

Thanks for the kind words.

I will prepare a separate "Looking for an Illustrator" page on
glider.ink and post it there in the next couple of days (also ping you).
I have to say I'm quite conflicted, as on one hand I'd like to have a
scenario / story ready, and on the other I don't even know how many
pages I can plan for without an illustrator to work with.

Depending on a person and their experience I could show more technology
/ details, focus on emotions or the general mood. Characters can have
more text if the illustrator is able to avoid the "talking head" by
changing the frame or creating something on the second plane which will
introduce more dynamism.

I feel like I really need to work with a visual artist to be able to say
who can I hire as one ;) I've been looking for an illustrator for more
than a year, even signed a contract with one. Sadly, they started
ghosting me a week before the Chaos Communication Congress we were to
attend to gather more stories and inspiration, and I'm back to nothing.

Usually people either don't read the descriptions, assume it's another
"action comic", start drawing boobs before they understand the
character, or go with cliches altogether. I mean,
https://wiki.glider.ink/_detail/art/characters/suzanne/cybernecrocat_suzanne.jpg?id=art
and
https://wiki.glider.ink/_detail/art/characters/suzanne/madamska_suzanne_wat.jpg?id=art
were drawn from the exact same description.

I will only start working on the project "full time" in March, and I'd
love to have somebody to partner with by then. I think it's a good
moment to start looking :)

Best,

alxd
