Let's say the 3rd floor stairs door got stuck, nobody can come in or out.
Landlord's repair person says they can't come for three weeks. Looks like
repairs will cost > $1000.

Are you saying, John, that funds would not be directed toward fixing the
door, because nobody donated toward it ahead of need?  I believe there
would be no "thinking to do" about investing in a building we'll be
occupying for ~10 months.  It would simply get done, no thoughts about
cheap fix.

The elevator is the only door for some of our people. I find it dismaying
that the same right of access the rest of us enjoy is not given equal
consideration for them.   And the landlord needs to be brought to task for
not fixing the elevator.
