DevOps Engineer

The mission of Heroku's DevOps department is to build tools and
processes to make it easy for our on-call team, platform
engineers, and support team to anticipate, diagnose, and fix
problems that may arise in our application platform as a service
(PAAS). We are currently hiring experienced, talented,
passionate and level-headed engineers to join the team.

You should be excited about building tools and processes to
solve operational problems in sustainable, scalable and
low-touch ways. Your bag of tricks may include everything from
change management processes to the ability to do sophisticated
database query analysis and optimization. You will develop
tools, documentation, processes and algorithms for early warning
systems, problem detection and alerting, root cause analysis and
diagnosis, and configuration and release management.

Ideal candidates will have:

2+ years systems administration/engineering with *Nix systems

5+ years software engineering with a combination of
dynamic/scripting language (Ruby, Python, Bash) and C or Erlang
programming experience.

Experience designing, implementing, and operating high-scale
database systems Working experience with key Amazon AWS
infrastructure components (EC2, EBS, S3, etc.)

Strong background in the fundamentals of all aspects of
application operations: network, storage, and server
architectures, protocols, and systems.

Hands-on exposure to the engineering and processes required to
operate high scale application platforms.

Front-line experience in rapid-response operational teams
(backline support, on-call engineering, etc.)
