*Salary: 80K-105K (Salary will depend on experience)*
This position is for a Senior Engineer/Operator for the IT Infrastructure
tools team. As a Tools team engineer/operator you are responsible for
engineering and overall operational support for the IT Infrastructure tools
including but not limited to day to day and strategic support for LPL’s data
centers and labs.
*Expectations*
- Act as a subject matter expert in supporting, planning, implementing
and integrating IT tools such as the HP suite of tools, open source tools,
logging tools, SNMP monitoring technologies and numerous other off the shelf
and home grown tools.
- Provide training for existing staff on existing and new
tools/technologies
- Implement Cacti and standard performance graphs, thresholds and alarms
- Provide strategic guidance on the BAC suite along with recommendations,
standard alerts and thresholds
- Implement the strategy for the BAC suite
- Test and validate all monitors are producing accurate results
- Provide documentation of tool implementations, configurations, uses and
policies
- Participate in ongoing processes to diagnose the internal and external
environments and act accordingly.
- Demonstrate the ability to resolve problems quickly, quickly learn new
skills and drive results.
- Excellent follow-through. Ensure that you are accountable for and
effectively executing day-to-day and strategic responsibilities.
- Continuously assess and improve processes within your scope, including
the impact on upstream and downstream groups, and recommend improvements in
processes you and the team interact with.
- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial perspective (envisioning new and
innovative ideas and approaches and taking them to fruition).
- Must work well in a team oriented environment. Be willing to ask
questions and also help others when asked.
- Ensure that issues are documented and transitioned to and from the
local team.
- Document daily progress on work items and pass down to the local team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience working in a large data center environment.
- 5+ years of experience in the planning, support, implementation and
integration of IT tools infrastructure and process.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong training and mentoring skills
- Demonstrate strong Unix, Linux, and Windows System Administration
skills
- Strong scripting ability is a plus
- Strong understanding of SNMP monitoring technologies
- Background and experience implementing and supporting the following
tools/technologies
- Sitescope
- HP BAC including RUM
- Solarwinds Orion suite
- Cacti
- SNMP
- Background and experience providing monitoring support for the
following hardware platforms
- IBM
- Foundry
- Cisco
- Juniper
- F5
