Job Summary:
Serves as one of the senior technical staff responsible for planning and
operation of the campus's voice and data networks. Plans, designs,
documents, develops, implements, monitors and maintains voice and data
network services and systems for the campus.
Generic Scope:
Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field
and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently
requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or
structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and
administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high
degree of autonomy.
Custom Scope:
Uses advanced professional IT concepts and campus objectives to resolve
highly complex issues. Regularly works on highly complex issues where
analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of
variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques
and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Initiates and completes
projects to add, modify, and replace complex data and telecommunications
services and systems that have broad impact. Responsible for documenting
requirements, defining services, evaluating products, designing
solutions, procuring equipment, and implementing, operating, and
maintaining telecommunications equipment and management systems that
impact the entire campus. Represents the unit in collaborative efforts
with other departments and divisions, reporting status and issues to
management. Provides technical leadership for a team of technical staff
who are responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and reliable operation
of highly available telecommunications services.
