The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a nonprofit organization based in
San Francisco, is looking to hire a visual designer who wants to lead
others and change the world.

EFF's designer/activist will create layouts and graphics for campaigns
about protecting digital freedom worldwide. More often than not, this means
designing beautiful and usable websites alongside developers and activists.
But it will also require project logos and the occasional flyer, sticker,
or t-shirt. The ideal candidate keeps up-to-date on user experience
conventions, wants to build a better digital future, and must aspire to
create polished visual work that matches the ambitious goals of EFF.

Job responsibilities include:

Designing striking layouts and graphics for online activism and fundraising
campaigns
Creating powerful images about key issues
Developing attractive and engaging information designs for printed
documents, like research reports and one-pagers
Working with other public interest groups on grassroots campaigns

Required:

Intimate knowledge of leading graphics software
Experience designing user interfaces alongside web developers and other
collaborators
Great communication skills
Excellent project management habits
A passion for Internet civil liberties issues

Not required, but very helpful:

A background in illustration
Writing experience

Environment is fast-paced; staff is hardworking yet laid back and friendly.

Salary in the mid-$40,000s and includes benefits.

To apply, send a cover letter and your resume to designer at eff.org. Please
include links to at least three samples of your work. No phone calls please!
