Howdy-

The Jewish Community High School seeks a part-time computer science teacher for the 2013-2014 academic year.

This course will mark the inauguration of a computer science program at JCHS. We anticipate starting with one section, probably focusing on programming in Java, with the possibility of adding additional sections in future years. Successful candidates will have both expertise in the field and teaching of computer science. Must be a team player, interested in collaboration within and among departments, and strongly committed to professional growth and development.

There is also the possibility for additional work as a robotics team coach.

Part-time teachers at JCHS are invited but not required to play a role in the life of the school beyond the classroom – attending community meetings and assemblies; acting as advisor to students one-on-one; advising clubs or taking on other roles in the extracurricular life of the school; mentoring student projects; participating in our annual all-school Shabbaton (weekend retreat) and our weeklong grade-level “journeys.” Faculty commitment to the mission of the school is essential, but as our diverse faculty demonstrates, religious affiliation is not a factor in hiring.

Indeed, as a school dedicated to creating a pluralistic community, JCHS employment decisions are made on the basis of an individual's skills and qualifications and will not exclude a candidate from consideration on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or marital status.

Interested candidates should email a cover letter, resume, and names of three references to Mallory Rome, Assistant Head of School, at mrome at jchsofthebay.org.

Or for more information you can contact me, Zeke Kossover, Dean of Math and Science, at this address or zkossover at jchsofthebay.org.
