I think the only use case where >100 mbit is needed is moving bulk
files around for the media center.  (Backups should also be on that
list, but aren't.)  Pony can't push a whole lot more than 100 mbit via
TCP anyway, iirc.  Stallion can, but I don't think there's anything on
there that would benefit significantly from going to a gigabit switch.
 The last time I felt a need for gigabit was when Leif and I were
shoving files around at the last minute for the care package that went
to Cuba.

Rubin's ethernet drop project could benefit from a gigabit switch.
Regardless of whether the speed is needed, the manageability features
might be useful.
