[Rack] [Noisebridge-discuss] Rack

I've been negotiating with webpass for the past two weeks now that
they dropped their prices. They want something like $100/mo for
10mbps symmetric, but there's a 1000 GB/month cap.

PG&E is switching over to the summer rates, so the per-kWh cost is
going up to 19.7 cents/kWh again. It's only a 34% increase for the
current year's tariff.

Electricity costs are $15 per 30 days per 100 watts at the summer
rate, and about $11 per 30 days per 100 watts at the winter rate.
Internet can be split equally between everyone in the rack. I have a
limited number of low power cobalt machines I can donate, both x86 and
MIPS. They all draw under 30 watts including disks. They're not fast
and they physically do not support LBA48 disks (137 GB limit), but
they're darn cheap to run. I also have some ARM boards in the
donation pipeline, but since we're the lowest priority for donations
there's no guarantee we'll get any.

We have plenty of network gear, and the rent for the rack is something
like $6/mo at cost assuming it takes up 8sqft. We could put the rack
in one of the access controlled areas of the building, too. I'm
already hosting some gear elsewhere in the building and the cooling is
way better than in the closet.
