The LR or "long range" ones you want to avoid unless you have a specific
use for them. Again I would throw this in the use case of few clients
with very specific network hardware inside a large warehouse, or a
field. If your connecting nothing more than laptops and phones to one,
those clients wont have that extra "long range" ability to talk back to
the client, so spending more on a "long range" access point is useless.
In buying UAPs I've had mostly good luck finding them used off of Amazon
for about $50 to $60 shipped a piece.

Electronica Direct so far has shipped me one fucked device out of about
a dozen. Just as long as you test (and upgrade!) them within a month of
receiving, they're pretty good about replace/refunding broken devices
shipped back with all the packaging. I rarely find the "3 pack" a good
deal, even used. I would say setup a price watch alert through one of
the many services that do that and buy them up whenever they show up.
I haven't had the best of luck finding good deals through eBay.
Additionally if you ever need Unifi outside and don't care much to get a
crazy 2x2 MIMO antenna setup and also want to save money, Unifi offers a
method to convert a Picostation M2HP into a Unifi device that's
recognized and managed by the controller. Apparently the innards to the
Picostation M2HP are identical to the UAP.

There's some thread on their forums about some site selling Nanostation
M2 with the same firmware but it doesn't seem like anyone else has
pulled this hack off.
