Thanks.  Ok, the computer is up, but there's a routing problem somewhere 
out there, so my VPN access is borked.

Hopefully They will figure it out sometime.

Thanks for the help, and thanks for the minotaur access; hopefully this 
will help diagnose these kinds of problems in the future.

FWIW, the receiver on the roof is still out of comission ...
