then i'm confused. If i try to edit my page now when not logged in, i
get "cannot edit this page" error. I have to log in to edit it.

Andy told me he applied "semi-protection" to another page of mine that
was getting vandalized, and it successfully prevented more abuse.
Wikimedia doc calls prevention of anonymous edits "semi-protection".

this is likely my own misunderstanding, but i thought i saw several anon
edits on the page AFTER your change yesterday. Today I rolled back my
page to an April version, and now i do not see the intervening anon
edits anymore.

No worries, the protection seems to be working. THANK YOU for your time
and efforts!
