> Hi Amber,

Thanks for the note, Amber! We hope you don't mind us making this "public"
by posting it to the zine mailing list, but we're trying to liven the list
up & also this could be useful info for other zinesters.

The first two issues of ZiP we printed at garden-variety copy shops:
Office Max, the one by Rainbow Foods, 1750 Harrison Street to be exact.
ZiP01 was printed on US letter size paper (8.5 x 11") in folio, i.e.
folded in half, double-sided, so that one sheet ends up equaling 4 ZiP
pages, if you follow. For ZiP02 we expanded to legal size (8.5 x 14")
paper in folio. We're keeping that format for ZiP03, which is nearing
completion & will hopefully see print very soon. However, we were not
entirely satisfied w/ the job done by Office Max last time & have decided
to make the recommended move to AN ACTUAL PRINTER (in Daravinne's words)
for ZiP03. Not sure which one yet. Two that we're considering are Valencia
Printing (conveniently close to Noisebridge), and 1984 (inconveniently
located in Oakland, but recommended to us by the owner of Needles & Pens
as a zine-friendly, cheap printshop).

Needles & Pens, if you didn't know, is the zine shop on 16th Street @
Guerrero which was the first local store to stock ZiP for sale.

We've used regular laser paper for ZiP, except the covers, which are
printed on thicker, better quality cover stock -- I don't know the exact
weight, but I can find out.

Let us know if you have any other questions, Amber! And keep us posted on
the progress of your zine, we'd love to check it out when it's ready.
